In an attempt to bolster its position in a sector that depends on quick technological advancements to reduce replacement cycles and draw in new customers, Sonova (SOON.S), opens new tab, unveiled its third hearing-aid platform using real-time AI on Monday.

In 2024, the Swiss business became the first to introduce a hearing aid that separated speech from background noise using real-time AI.

The new Phonak EON platform, according to Anders Rosengren, head of research and development at Sonova, delivers a lighter, smaller gadget with a sophisticated AI that doubles speech comprehension while needing less listening effort.

The new platform is probably going to play a significant role in helping Sonova meet its medium-term growth goals, which were treated with skepticism by investors in March.

Oliver Lux, head of Sonova’s EMEA and Latin America regions, stated, “We anticipate EON adoption growing rapidly among both replacement and new customers.”

Lux stated that EON was created to support the company’s premium market positioning at launch, while Sonova did not reveal pricing information.

Prior to a wider worldwide roll-out, Australia and important European markets including Germany, France, Italy, and Britain will follow the U.S. launch on Monday.

According to Lux, Sonova continues to observe favorable market dynamics in all of its major regions, particularly in Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Sonova has emphasized Asia-Pacific as a crucial growth region under CEO Eric Bernard, who assumed office in September of last year. The company aims to increase volumes and fortify its position in faster-growing economies that are supported by aging populations.
